Household Products Safety Management System (KC)
Purpose of certification
The Household Products Safety System is implemented under the Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Control Act to manage manufacture, import, and sale of products in order to prevent harm to consumers' life and body, property damage, or damage to the natural environment from handling and use of products, thereby protecting citizens' life, body, and property and promoting consumer interests and safety.
Certification overview
Under the Household Products Safety System, household products with potential hazards from product or component structure, use methods, harmful substances, etc. must demonstrate applicable safety through Safety Certification, Safety Confirmation, Supplier's Declaration of Conformity, or Safety Standard Compliance, as applicable by product.

Remarks
Validity period
After obtaining Safety Certification, factory audits are conducted every two years to maintain certification.
Penal provisions
Under Article 49 (Penal Provisions) of the Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Control Act, violators shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine not exceeding 30 million won.
Other matters
- When applying for Safety Certification for a product of the same classification manufactured at the factory (where a factory audit was conducted) of a product that already holds Safety Certification, the factory audit may be omitted.
