Purpose of certification
Certification under the Household Chemical Products Subject to Safety Confirmation system aims to protect public health and the environment and contribute to public safety by regulating risk assessment of household chemical products, approval of biocidal substances and products, and standards for biocide-treated products, among other matters.
Certification overview
This mandatory certification system demonstrates conformity with standards required under the Act on the Safety Management of Household Chemical Products and Biocides; depending on the product, it is divided into Conformity Confirmation where safety standards are announced and Substance Approval where they are not, and the applicable certification must be obtained before sale.

Remarks
Validity period
Valid for three years after certification is completed; renewal must be completed before the certification expires.
Other matters
Under Article 58 (Penal Provisions) of the Act on the Safety Management of Household Chemical Products and Biocides, violators shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than seven years or a fine not exceeding 70 million won.
